“Nothing ever seems impossible in Spring, you know.”- L.M. Montgomery, Anne of Ingleside

Job 38:12 “Hast thou commanded the morning since they days: and caused the day spring to know his place;”

Song of Solomon 2: 13-“The fig tree putteth forth her green figs, and the vines with the tender grape give a good smell. Arise, my love, my fair one, and come away.”

Symbolically, spring is known as the time for new birth and growth. The colors are light and full of life. Spring is a time when the heavens open and anything is possible. There is hard work that happens again in spring, as does with fall with planting and harvesting, but this hard work leads to the fast growth from the planting that occurs.

Spring is known as the season when Christ’s resurrection occurred, and many miracles took place. Spring is known as the season of miracles. The verses from Job and Song of Solomon describe how God is in control of timing and the morning will always come. Spring will always come, and God knows when to allow it.  The bible also mentions we won’t always know when spring will come, referring to miracles. It is always so unpredictable when spring will truly come and stay, which relates to how we don’t know when the moment of the miracle will happen. It can be hard to keep hope that spring will come after long periods of waiting in winter, but this verse assures us that it is within God’s law that spring and morning will always come.

This artwork includes the lighter yellows and golds to symbolize the season of miracles unfolding. This painting has the most painted crystals depicted of all the Seasons of Light and Miracles paintings. The acanthus leaves symbolize eternal life and that perspective to help hold hope to make it to spring.

Collection: Seasons of Light and Miracles: Hope within Each Season

We can experience light and
inspiration differently depending on the season we are in spiritually. This
meaning is experienced physically and metaphorically as we compare the darkness
of winter to the brightness of summer. I relate each of these experiences to a
bible verse and describe how we might experience it spiritually. I wanted to
paint light and hope for each season, as each is experienced differently in
each season. I also include the transitions from each season, as those are also
described biblically and in life, there is always a small transition that
happens. We almost don’t see it sometimes.

I chose Irises because they
symbolize hope, faith, and wisdom. When I see irises, I see them as flowers
with a feel of regal, delicate, quiet strength. Each painting has acanthus
leaves representing eternal life and the perspective that this can have on hope
and inspiration. Each painting has crystals which represents the idea of light
and intuition and how we receive it in each season, except as it gets closer to
winter, there are less. And in winter, there are no crystals depicted. The
colors correlate to each season.
